We help young women acquire all the necessary skills to be successful in society. During their time at our program, we help young women focus on five major core principles: healthy living, education, life skills, personal responsibility and social integration. These principles help to empower our residents towards a happier, brighter future.
Journey Home is located in Utah, more specifically in Layton, just outside Salt Lake City, but of course we help young women all over the country, including Texas.
Our transitional living program from Texas includes the family as an active part of the treatment, because we find that involving family and having a good, open and honest relationship with parents and siblings is the best proactive factor for a successful therapeutic process and a successful and happier life.
Journey Home is meant to be a place for young women who struggle with mental issues, and now want to find a place where they have the space necessary to develop skills and regain that sense of strength and empowerment to face society again, while they spend time adjusting to their new abilities gained through the previous treatment.

Journey Home, one of the leading transitional living program from Texas, offers some of the most advanced transitional environments in the country. Its scientifically proven that focusing on building a sense of agency and personal responsibility is the best path to build self-esteem.
The first step of this path is that it is not the first step at all. Our transitional living program is intended to provide a transition time between any treatment program and going back to normal society for young women between 16 and 21 from Texas. To do so, during the day, girls will attend high school or college, and return to Journey Home base in the evening, where they can find the warmth and comfort of a traditional home setting.
Every girl is guided by house parents that function as individual guides to help her with reaching goals and with practical things like homework and school or college studies. They have at least one follow-up interview every two weeks.
During permanence, girls from Texas are involved in many activities to enhance life-skills, such as: maintaining cleanliness of living space and property, budgeting, time management, meal preparation, shopping, transportation, gaining employment, appropriate recreation, personal hygiene, nutrition and fitness. They can also attend high school or pursue college courses.
But not all of our transitional living program from Texas is teaching and educating. Some of the regular group activities at the Journey Home include Fun Food Friday, snow sports in the winter, visiting museums, going to movies, exploring the local outdoors by hiking and biking, and many other local events and activities. Many of these activities are carefully planned by Journey Home itself.
