If you’re searching for an independent living program for your daughter from Missouri, you may have a very frustrating time ahead of you. It’s hard to send away your daughter, but there is scientific evidence that an extended period away from home can improve self-esteem and coping skills. Journey Home is located just outside Salt Lake City in Utah, but accepts young women all over the country, including Missouri.
Every girl who wishes to attend the program must meet these requirements: graduation from a residential treatment center, therapeutic wilderness program, therapeutic boarding school, or other similar treatment programs, has demonstrated readiness for this level of responsibility and freedom, is committed and stable relative to ongoing life and therapeutic goals, is and is committed to sobriety. If your child from Missouri meets these requirements, she can then undergo an admission interview and our professional team will assess if an independent living program is the best choice for your daughter. We work especially with depressive and anxiety disorders, body image issues, ADD/ADHD and other learning issues, academic struggles and low self-esteem.
Our program is based on five core principles: healthy living, education, life skills, personal responsibility and social integration. Every girl must decide, with the support of family and a professional team, goals within every principle. She will do a follow up interview at least every two weeks, and a couple of parents will be assigned to her as guidance.
Journey Home has plenty of alternative activities beyond just therapy, there’s outdoor hiking, fun food Friday, sports, going to movies and others. But our girls con decide even to get a job or go on with high school or college studies.
Our independent living program can help make your daughter become a successful and happy adult, more than capable of coping with society and internal issues.
