Sacred Space Gardening
Gardens transport us from our manmade world to one designed solely by Mother Nature. We are reminded of the sacred and our need for solitude. This cob bench sits in the heart of our garden, surrounded by our Medicinal Plant Garden. It creates a still point in the hub of the Harvest Garden and encourages us to contemplate the beauty and wonder of our natural world.

Framed by an arbor covered Ballerina roses, this bench offers us time to reflect and remember the gifts of nourishment, medicine, textiles, and beauty Nature freely provides. A stone spiral lies at the foot of the bench, a symbol of the human quest for meaning. The bench sits on large stones and is framed in part by  wooden branches. Made of garden mud and straw, it's protected from the elements with several applications of linseed oil and beeswax. It was designed and built by Jennie Spreckels.

"We come from the Earth and to the Earth we return.
In between we garden."
